does anybody here reload the 500 Smith and Wesson Magnum cartridge besides me? been thinking of trying large magnum rifle instead of just large rifle primers. looking for a few thoughts on that.

Finally made it out to the range after at least 2 months of not shooting the beast

Powder: 32.6 grains of IMR4227. this is .5gr higher than max per hornady handbook
Primer: CCI350 magnum pistol primers
Bullet: 300gr rainier lead safe plated hollow point
Brass: Starline
COL: 1.585"
Gun: Desert Eagle 50AE Mk XIX

Have any of you guys tried Viht N110 for the 44 mag? How well does it cycle our guns? I'm looking for clean and it seems this is the cleanest available... but I don't want to spend the premium price on their powders if it doesn't shoot well! Thanks!

Right now the most functional load I have is 24 grains of H110, CCI magnum primers, pushing either Nosler sporting handgun or XTP's, both 240 grain. After wrestling about 100 rounds through the gun today, I discovered that H110 is FILTHY! So, just out of curiosity, has anyone tried using Lil Gun in a 50AE DE reload? I'm out of H110, as it seems are all the store around me. I could not find a recipe for Lil Gun for 50AE, but I did for 500 S&W Magnum. Does anyone know if I might be able to use Lil Gun?

44Magnum Barrel Shoots Really High!

I purchased my DE used with both the 50 and the 44 Magnum barrel. The gun was originally a 50 and the 44 Magnum was purchased by the previous owner as an extra. The 50 shoots great but when I put the 44 Mag barrel on it shoots way high, like quite a few feet to high at 100 yards. Whats going on here? Also, my 50 barrel has a white dot on the front sight while my 44 barrel does not, is that normal? Can I get a taller front sight for the 44 Magnum barrel?

found some 4227 in my buddies bargain basement for $7 per pound! i made some loads today and here's what i got so far. the hottest loads that hornady recommends in their book for me seemed to do pretty well. i plan to go .5gr hotter, though. this is the first time i've used loads with this powder and the ones i shot that were max were causing the slide not to fully engage after chambering the round. this has never been a problem for me with lil'gun. the 4227 is much lighter of a...

Hello. Great board you guys have here. I am looking for some help with a 50AE reloading problem. I have built up my first set of reloads using 50AE Speer 300gr GDHP part number 4439. I have properly case sized and loaded the bullets to the suggested OAL of 1.580" and checked every possible dimension with calipers. The add for NRA mambership on the inside front cover said annual dues were $5!! Boy - did this bring back memories! I wonder what happened to the one I had as a teenager......

for some reason the last 50 reloads i've done are still getting dented when i'm testing to see if they chamber in my desert eagle. i'm pretty much hearing 2 clicks as the slide is shutting and its coming out with quite a significant dent. i hope you guys can see the pictures good enough. i dont know why this is happening

These are the 300 gr. hornady evolution bullets loaded up for a 500 magnum. you CAN now buy these bullets alone.

300 gr. 50 caliber, ballistic tip, totally jacketed. sounds like a great recipe for the 50 AE! Has anyone tried these yet? I'm thinking that the only problem would be possibly the tip being too long for the magazine. I'm going to buy some soon and try them. if they dont work, i'll just load them up in my 500 mag. but that would be something if they worked in...
